Color Theory
Happy New Year! I usually start the New Year with what is “Hot” in interior design, but nothing seemed that hot so I decided to talk color. I labor over colors when decorating. I love black which can be overbearing and appreciate white, neutral tones that are more elegant, but maybe not functional. They say your home or bedroom can reflect your personality. Here are some colors and their associated personality traits:
- Red: A color associated with passion, love, and anger. People who like red may be assertive, decisive, and driven.
- Blue: A color associated with calm, responsibility, and sadness. People who like blue may be good at motivating and communicating.
- Green: A color associated with new beginnings, abundance, and nature. People who like green may love to learn new things and have high morals.
- Yellow: A color associated with happiness, hope, and deceit. People who like yellow may be sociable, enthusiastic, and persuasive.
- Purple: A color associated with creativity, royalty, and wealth. People who like purple may need emotional security and enjoy order.
- Orange: A color associated with energy, happiness, and vitality. People who like orange may be extremely sociable and require acceptance and respect.
- Brown: A color associated with a deep need for a comfortable and safe life.
- Black: A color associated with mystery, elegance, and evil.
- Gray: A color associated with moodiness, conservatism, and formality.
Some people may choose neutral colors to reflect their understated elegance and grace, while others may choose bolder colors to indicate that they are adventurous. I threw in a pink example for those who have no fear.
